This is the sixth of the Road To…movies featuring Crosby & Hope.

During the 1960s, Hope performed on several Oklahoma college campuses. An Oklahoma State University student military group sponsored two performances where Hope spoke from a revolving platform in the center of the fieldhouse. In 1969, shows before thousands in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Stillwater helped fund the OSU Center for the Performing Arts.

A University of Tulsa homecoming was part of a tour of Southwestern campuses. During that trip, the Will Rogers Memorial Commission gave him the Will Rogers Award for humor, a plaque commissioned for him and presented one time only.

During a 1969 visit, the director of the Cowboy Hall of Fame gave him a cowboy hat and boots for the Western comedies in which he had starred. In 1971, the Pawnee and Otoe-Missouria tribes made him an honorary Indian.

Hope appeared in several of Oklahoma City’s July 4th Stars and Stripes Show five times. In 1971, the show turned around to honor its featured performer.
